  • Purpose of Trials - Defeat Satan

Forgive MedicineWe can understand the schemes of Satan and outwit him. Satan uses trials to cause us to hold grudges and miss the blessings of God. God uses trials to teach us to forgive and be blessed.

  • Purpose of Trials - Forgiveness

ForgiveWhen Jesus forgives a person, who are WE to still hold them accountable? If we are suffering in trials, it may be the result of our own actions – including our unwillingness to forgive those whom God has forgiven!

  • Purpose of Trials - Love

You Are BlessedSome trials are intended to prepare us to show love and ministry to someone that we will encounter in the future. In the words that God gave me recently, “If I am not willing to experience pain for you, I have no right to say 'I love you.'”

  • Purpose of Trials, Source of Help

My SourceIn the Bible, hardships are described as a “test of our faith” because they often push us to the point of realizing that we are not able to endure. Suffering should teach us to rely on God - rather than ourselves. (2Co 1:9). This post elaborates on that statement.

  • Purpose of Trials

model-why"Why does God allow trials?" Some trials are the result of our own actions, some from the actions of others & some occur to everyone in an area (like storms). God ALLOWS these things to happen to us so we will learn and grow.

  • Looking for the “wisdom store”

The Wisdom StoreHow does one acquire wisdom? I do NOT believe that God “sprinkles wisdom dust” on our heads. I believe that there is a PROCESS through which we develop wisdom. This article describes the basic process.

  • I need patience

Grant Me PatiencePatience is developed through the trial of our faith. When patience completes its work, we become mature & complete. And, when we KNOW that, it enables us to have “overcoming joy in trials” – the theme of the Book of James.

  • God Has A Plan

God's PlanIf God's plan is to give us hope, why do we endure such pain? Why does He allow such despair? Because God wants us to experience a life of righteousness (James 1:20). This is what the Book of James is all about.

Foreword

  • Why I Wrote This Book

DespairWhen severe trials slap us in the face, we tend to feel that our own situation is the worst thing that could happen. And it is not consoling for someone else to tell us that they have experienced even greater hardship. This book tries to explain why.

  • How to read this book

Treasure MapAll of the articles that are posted here will be sorted, ordered and combined and necessary corrections made prior to final publication. Some of the posted articles may be eliminated from the final publication. This website is a collection point where all of the necessary articles are kept prior to the final assembly of the book.

  • Foreword

Trial by ordealThe title of this Book is intentionally meant to be a play on words. A more accurate title might be “Teachings from the Book of James on How to Live with Trials." But I do not want anyone to be turned off by thinking that this book is just a verse-by-verse commentary (of my understanding) on the Book of James.

  • Help Me Write

Help MeI would like for you to keep up with the development of this book and provide comments and constructive criticism. What I really need are some "beta testers" or "focus group members" to give me feedback on how each book "feels" from the reader's perspective.
